Keeping Everyone Occupied: Anniversary Party GamesAnniversary parties allow for the use of some of the most fun party themes. Whether you are using the traditional materials associated with the anniversary – for example, silver for a 25th or gold for a 50th – or are basing your party themes on something else, anniversaries can be more than staid obligatory events. Try including anniversary party games and other non-traditional events to liven up your next anniversary party. Party games do not necessarily have to be about competition. Try thinking of ideas that relate to the anniversary you are celebrating at your party – how can your guests explore the anniversary through a game? A clever idea for a party game is for guests to draw portraits of the anniversary person (or couple), perhaps even delegating different eras to different guests. For example, a 50th wedding anniversary is an opportunity for the guests to draw pictures of the anniversary couple, with the game including that the portrait must be of the anniversary couple when the guest first met them. The portraits can then be attached to the wall as party decorations, and later kept by the anniversary couple as a touching reminder of the party. If the anniversary is of an event, the game can be to draw the event in question. Drawing games are always a good option, as the rules are simple, the materials cheap and there is little chance for mess or damage! Another option for games with an anniversary theme is to decorate a standard object in the era being celebrated. For example, a mannequin can be dressed in the style of the decade of the original anniversary event, with the prize going to the party guests who best represent the anniversary era. Other games options are decorating large cards or plaques, or if started early enough in the party proceedings, even making appropriate decorations. Related Articles
