Balloon Games for Big Fun

For good, cheap fun, you can improve young children’s birthday parties with simple balloon games. You can come up with quick and easy games for the little ones and a few packages of balloons will not put much of a dent in your party budget. Kids love balloons, so plan on some simple age-appropriate games for a great time. A relay race where the kids aren’t allowed to use their hands in passing the balloon from person to person can be great fun. Line everyone up in two lines, and see if they can move the balloon across the room without using their hands. You’ll soon see that the balloons seem to have a mind of their own and tend to float and bounce off of every available surface, so you’ll want to remove any dangerous objects or breakables before the party.

Nothing is as amazing to a child as a helium balloon that floats up to the ceiling when released. Large helium-filled balloons are great for party games, too. Fill them with small treats or messages and see who can pop the balloon first. Or make a game out of decorating balloons. Provide markers, construction paper and tape and see who can make the silliest balloon face.

A Simple Pinata

You can use a large balloon for a simple round pinata for party fun, too. Create paper mache with glue or flour and water, and drape dampened strips of newspaper all over the balloon. Allow the paper mache to dry overnight, then pop the balloon, cut a small hole and fill it with candy and goodies. For safety, you’ll want to play the pinata game out of doors and make sure you have enough adult supervision.
