Birthday Hats Can Play a Big Part in a Theme Party

Birthday hats might be those silly looking cones that you stick on everyone’s head or you might just make the hat into something special by using hats as part of your theme party.

Most kids love to pretend to be pirates so how about using these pirate party ideas for that next special birthday? Pirate parties are great for kids between the ages of 4 – 10 who enjoy pretending, games and action!

And don’t overlook making girls into pirates as well. At this age, kids just love to dress up and be creative. Pirates are known for their great hats, of course. You could fold hats out of newspaper or buy red bandanas. Black eye patches, play swords and rolled up pants help make everyone into a pirate for the party occasion.

Put a Pirate Spin on the Usual Games and Party Fare

Parties for pirates could also include a scavenger hunt through the back yard or the neighborhood. Give everyone a map and see who can find the hidden treasure.  

Birthdays mean party favors. Party treats can be the gold wrapped coins of chocolate or jelly bean jewels of rubies and emeralds. Party food could include serving “rum” (cola drinks) with a cake decorated with a chest overflowing with play jewelry. Pirates eat with their fingers so be sure to serve chicken wings and bbq ribs.

Fun party games can have pirates searching for hidden treasures, challenging each other in teams or learning some sailing songs. Every pirate might be asked to walk the plank and end up in the swimming pool!

The best pirate parties will be mix of fun, excitement and adventure so adding a shark piñata to strike with play “swords” is a perfect ending for your party.  And if you’re really smart, you might recruit some of those pirates to help you swab down the decks when the party is done!
