How to Plan a Children’s Birthday PartyPlanning a children’s birthday party is on every family’s calendar at least once a year, if not more! And while party planning can be challenging, with the right information and ideas, the party can be as much fun for you as it is for your child! Organization is the key, so begin by setting a date close to the birthday that doesn’t interfere with family plans or holidays. Your child will want as many of their friends to be there as possible, so families often have a small family celebration on the actual date of the birthday, and throw the party at time when children can attend, such as a weekend or after school. Next, make a list of children to be invited so you have a rough estimate of the total number of partiers. The first ingredient for a great party is…what else? Happy birthday balloons! No other item adds as much joy and excitement at such a low cost. Kids of all ages love balloons. Even parents love balloons! And you can never have too many. Helium balloons and regular balloons should be the first thing on your list. No birthday party is complete without them. At least two weeks before the party (but no earlier than four weeks!) mail or hand-deliver the birthday party invitations. Make sure to note an easy way for partiers to RSVP, such as a phone number or email. One week before the date, count your list of RSVPs, and add a few extra just in case. Now you can purchase party favors, cake, food, drinks, and decorations. The Day ArrivesOn the day of the party, pick up the cake, blow up the balloons, and hang the decorations, but be sure you’re finished to welcome guests at least an hour before the start time. Early arrivals are just as common as late ones. Above all, enjoy the party with your child, and it will be a day the whole family will remember…at least until the next birthday!
