College Party Themes & Ideas for a Party to Remember
Planning on hosting a party for your college friends? There are many college party themes that are much more fun than the usual frat party or tailgate party you’re used to going to. Why not put a little extra effort into making your party the talk of the entire campus.
One of the best ways to start organizing your college party is to ask some friends for help. If you are part of a sorority or fraternity get your house to host the party. This way the organizing and financial burden won’t be left on your shoulders alone.
There are many different types of theme parties that you can throw that won’t cost you too much money. One of these is a toga party. Toga parties basically involve guests wearing a simple costume that consists of a sheet worn to cover the entire body (think Greek). This ties in to the Greek names of most frat and sorority houses.
How About Something Less Obvious?
Other than traditional toga parties, what other theme ideas can you use for your college party? Any party that involves costumes and dressing up is usually a hit, and it doesn’t have to be around Halloween to make this type of theme party work. A Hawaiian Luau party is great for the summer months. Ask party-goers to dress up is festive Hawaiian shirts and grass skirts. Have a variety of brightly colored leis at the door for each guest as they arrive.
Some other fun party theme ideas:
- Backyard barbeque
- Beach party or clambake
- Retro party (play games from your childhood such as musical chairs and Twister)
- Famous couples
No matter what type of college party you plan to throw, be sure that there are designated drivers if you plan to serve alcohol. Having a sober person in charge of collecting keys as people arrive is a great way to prevent drinking and driving.
