Making the First One Special: First Birthday Party IdeasIt’s never too early to start celebrating your children’s birthdays. While you obviously can’t ask baby their opinion on first birthday party ideas, it is still possible to find ideas that celebrate your child’s personality at their birthday party. Since your child is probably not aware of the significance of their first birthday, the party decorations and party food will be more for the guests than the birthday girl or boy. But this does not mean that you can’t use some ideas that celebrate your child’s first birthday. A simple idea for a first birthday party is to choose a color and stick with the theme through the preparations for the party. Food, decorations and party favors can all be in the theme color of the party. Dress the birthday girl or boy in the party color, and if you wish ask guests to wear that color too. Another idea for your color party is to have clever touches, like balloon animals, in your theme color. Another similar idea is to have a rainbow theme for the first birthday. A first birthday is really about adults celebrating your child’s birthday. Therefore, try to come up with ideas of games and activities that will keep the adult guests entertained, even when the birthday child is asleep, which often happens at these parties! An idea for one game is to ask all the guests to draw a portrait of your baby. This does not necessarily have to be on a piece of paper – have them draw on balloons, or paper plates, and then add them all together for a display. Another nice touch is to supply disposable cameras to all the adults at your party, and ask them to take pictures of your child enjoying their first birthday. This way you will have many different perspectives on your child’s special day.
