Fun Party Games for All Kinds of Occasions

When you’re planning a party, it is important to consider how you will entertain your guests. For some parties, particularly adult ones, good food, music and conversation may be enough, but for others, adding some fun party games to the list of activities can ensure a good time for all.

But what kind of games should you plan? That depends mostly upon the type of party you are giving. Of course, the games you would play at a kid’s birthday party would not be appropriate for an adult themed party. Next, consider theme party ideas. If you have an overall theme, you can pick party games to go along. For example, I went to a great luau themed dinner party, complete with Hawaiian decorations, which included a hula contest as one of the main activities of the evening.

Choose Your Audience

For a kid’s party, the tried and true are always popular. Pin the Tail on the Donkey, or a variation thereof, is an old fashioned game that kids still love. When my son turned five, we had a Spiderman themed party, and played Pin the Spider on Spiderman. A pinata is another great party game for kids, and almost every party store carries a variety, so that you can find one to fit your overall theme.

For adult parties, you may need to be creative. This is where having a theme is a great help.

• For a western barbeque, try pitching horseshoes.
• Put out a small putting green for your guests to use for a golf themed evening.
• Play volleyball in conjunction with a beach party theme.

Imagination and a focus on fun and mingling are the keys. Even if the games seem a little silly at first, if they are well thought out and fit with the overall evening, your guests will enjoy them.
