Halloween Party Decorations of a Different Color

When planning a Halloween party, think outside the pumpkin. Halloween party decorations don’t have to be orange or even black and jack-o-lanterns don’t have to be pumpkins at all.

Plan a Halloween party of a different color this year. What if you ditched the traditional orange and planned to use other fall colors? Choose reds, golds and greens for your party decorations. Carve mini jack-o-lanterns out of red and green bell peppers to use as Halloween table decorations.

Use leaves (yes real leaves) for party invitations. Press gold or red leaves between the pages of book. Write the Halloween party information on the leaf with a gel pen. Carry the leaf theme through to party decorations. Buy party supplies with a fall leaf motif.

Lime green also work as the primary color for Halloween party décor. Lime green is the color of monsters and slime. Create foaming green party punch with the help of dry ice. Keep the party lights low and use neon green glow sticks to create an eerie mood.

Basic Black and White

Plan and Halloween party with stark black and white decorations. You can decorate with black spiders and white webs. Hang plastic spiders from fishing line at various heights. Freeze more plastic spiders in ice cubes and float them in the punch. Cover mirrors, picture frames and light fixtures with spider webs.

To make creative Halloween decorations that are definitely not pumpkins, carve shrunken heads from apples. Soak whole apples for about one minute in 1 cup of lemon juice mixed with 1 tablespoon of salt. After the apple has been soaked, carve a face. Soak the apple in the lemon mixture one more time. Let the apple dry into a spooky looking shrunken head. You’ll have to plan ahead (pun purely intentional) to make these Halloween decorations. The apples take about a week to dry.
