Unique Ideas Like a Mini Flashlight for a Party Favor

A couple of years ago, friends of ours gave a housewarming party. They gave a mini flashlight for party favors. Every time I use that little flashlight, which, by the way, is quite handy, I think of that party. Great favors are one of the keys to a memorable party, but sometimes we have trouble coming up with party favor ideas. Here are a few suggestions to get you going.

When you’re trying to come up with an idea for favors, use the overall theme as your inspiration. For instance, not long ago I attended a kitchen shower for a friend who was getting married. As a favor, the hostess gave each guest a wire whisk filled with candies wrapped in the bride’s wedding colors. I gave scented drawer sachets to guests at a lingerie shower a few years ago. Any idea you have that creates a vivid reminder of your celebration makes a great favor. Some of the greatest party favors are things that wouldn’t normally be thought of as such.

Dinner parties also offer great opportunities for unusual favors. One friend of mine gives a set of recipe cards to each guest, on which she has written the recipes of all the dishes she has served that evening. Another fun idea for a dinner party favor is a cookie in a jar mix. Serve homemade cookies for dessert, and then give each guest a cookie in a jar mix for the same cookies to take home. That way, they can make your delicious cookies for themselves later. Many cooking sites have numerous “cookie in a jar” recipes.

No matter what party favor you decide to give your guests, rest assured that providing a fun take home item will make your party even more memorable. Use your imagination, and come up with something out of the ordinary that will make your party stand out in your friends’ minds.
