Party Planning Tips - Planning a Fun Kids Birthday Party

Whenever you are giving a birthday party, you can use all the party planning tips you can get. Some of the most difficult things to decide on are the activities for your event. You want your birthday party games and other activities to be fun and unique. If you are giving a kids’ party, you may also be looking for something to keep the parents occupied as well. Following are some tips on activities that might help you keep the fun going.

First, consider the age of your guests. If you are having a birthday party for a 5 year old, for example, don’t plan too many activities. Kids at this age will be anxious to just play with each other, and too many planned events will mean that you will spend all afternoon trying to herd them to where you want them.

Two activities or games should be plenty for this age group. For children between the ages of three and five, plan on only one organized activity, and don’t even try to have organized games for children under three.

Some of the best activities for children aged five to eight include pinatas and any game that allows the kids to get out and run around. Water gun fights work well for boys and girls – just be sure that the parents know to send swimsuits or a change of clothes.

Get the Parents Involved Too

If you are looking for a way to include the parents, try field day type activities that the kids and parents can participate in together, like three legged races. For older kids, try hosting a scavenger hunt. Get help from your neighbors in planting things for the hunters to find.

If you aren’t interested in playing games, try finding some entertainment for your party. Magicians work well for ages 4 and up, but be wary of clowns as many children are afraid of them. You might also consider renting a costume of your child’s favorite cartoon character, and coercing a friend or family member into being the day’s entertainment.

Planned activities are the key to a successful and stress free child’s party. Take your child’s personality into consideration, and plan a party your birthday boy or girl will never forget.
