offer your guests some options for punch |

Party Punch for the Retirement PartyThere are many variations on party punch. Keep in mind with your retirement party planning that guests will appreciate having the choice of different kinds of punch. Depending on the time of day and theme of the party, plan to have two bowls of non-alcoholic punch for every bowl of alcoholic punch so thirsty guests can have a choice of either. When you are planning a retirement party and know that some of the crowd will include people in their fifties and up, remember that some in that age bracket may have blood sugar problems or want to avoid alcohol for health reasons. You may then plan to serve a bowl of sugar-free punch without fruit so everyone can enjoy the party. Another idea is to mix sugar-free ginger ale with some unsweetened fruit juice. Party food goes well with punch and is a hospitable touch, especially if you are serving alcohol with the punch. Punch recipes are available in most cookbooks and online, and you can also buy punch mix at the grocery store and liquor store. Punch Set-UpColorful party punches in big clear bowls are usually so attractive that it can serve as its own party decoration, especially if you complement the punch bowls with a tablecloth and flowers on the table. If you do a little shopping ahead at thrift stores or online auctions you might find some whimsical and interesting punch bowls that will also be conversation pieces at the retirement party. Stores that sell party supplies as well as most kitchen supply and general stores will stock punch bowls and ladles. These same businesses will sell plastic punch cups that look nice while being disposable.
