Throw an Exciting Pirate Birthday Party!

Choosing a theme for a birthday party is always fun, and you can never go wrong with a pirate birthday party. They’re great fun, for kids and adults alike!

Your first stop should be a party store. They’re a great resource for planning childrens birthday parties, especially theme parties. You’ll see a wide variety of themed decorations and supplies. An online party store will have an even larger selection. But because you don’t know how many kids will be attending the birthday party, it might be best to just purchase invitations on this first visit.

Send out the invitations at least two weeks before the party. Make sure the invitations note that it’s a pirate party if you want the children to come dressed up. Another option is to let the children come in normal clothes, but plan to have pirates swoop in on the party and make the birthday boy or girl walk the plank! Then they can teach all the children some pirate games. In this case, you might include a fun warning inside the invitation, foreshadowing the possible appearance of pirates, like “This birthday boat sails at 6pm sharp. But watch out for pirates!”

Once you know how many kids are coming to the birthday party (and counting on a few extras), it’s back to the store for the party theme supplies. You might also visit a store specializing in party rentals to get pirate costumes for the adults who will play the invading pirates!

On the day of the party, put up your decorations well in advance. If you’ve decided to have pirate invaders, go over your game plan with those who are playing the pirates. Make sure all the pirate games you’ve chosen are safe and fun.

In the end, you’ll have thrown a birthday party that the kids will absolutely love. Just beware! Kids can get really excited around pirates, and they might end up making YOU walk the plank!
