Retirement Party Invitations – Planning Your Party’s Theme

A retirement party can be such a fun event. Your guest of honor is moving into a new and wonderful phase of life, a phase he or she has probably been dreaming of for years. You want to plan a wonderful end to their working years and a wonderful beginning to retirement. But where should you begin? If you need some inspiration, try going shopping for retirement party invitations. Many ready to use invitation cards are very creative and can give you lots of ideas from which you can create a theme.

Once you have decided on a theme or invitation design that you like, you can build your party around it. You can make or buy party decorations in the same design, and paper products in coordinating colors. Be creative, you may even be able to come up with some party food ideas that complement your overall theme.

Consider Your Honoree’s Personality

If you’re having trouble coming up with ideas, here are a couple of things to consider. First, what will your guest of honor be doing with their time once they retire? Will his time be spent golfing? Fishing? Will she finally be able to garden the way she’s always wanted? If you can find the new pursuit that will be occupying your newly retired friend’s time, you’ve got your theme. Focus on their new “career” and you’ll be able to find lots of ways to create a unique retirement party.

For a golfing theme, consider an invitation shaped like a golf club, and include a golf tee in each envelope. Those golf invitations are sure to get your guests excited about the party, and give them some inspiration, too. Why not even ask your guests to make their retirement gifts golf related, and create your party menu from foods typically served in the bar or café of a country club.

If your guest of honor doesn’t have a serious pursuit planned for retirement, then consider planning the theme around the career they are leaving, with a focus on leaving it behind.
