Turkey Decorations – Creative Ideas for a Thanksgiving Party

Thanksgiving is my favorite meal of the year. I love all the traditions that surround this holiday – the huge dinner, the pumpkin pie – even the turkey decorations! One tradition I’ve started for our family is sending out thanksgiving invitations every year. We think it’s a nice change from the typical phone call, or the “assumption” that the family is getting together again this year.

There are quite a few options for coming up with invitations to your holiday dinner. Of course, you can buy pre-printed invitations where you just fill in the date and time. These are quick and easy, and certainly get the job done. They are easy to find, as well. Any party store will carry several choices of this type of invitation.

If you prefer a more formal look, you can visit your local stationary store, and have your invitations custom printed. This approach gives you lots of choices for the invitations themselves, and your stationer will be able to help you with the appropriate wording, ensuring an elegant look.

Are You Crafty?

A third option for your invitations for Thanksgiving is to make them yourself. You can make this as simple or as complicated a craft as you wish. Stationary and party stores will carry cards and sheets pre-printed with a Thanksgiving theme. Using these, you can add your own wording and print your invitations at home. Or, you can buy blank cards and add your own artwork, either hand done or downloaded from the Internet. Hand drawn artwork makes for beautiful and one-of-a-kind invitations, if you’re up to the challenge.

Whatever approach you take, sending invitations adds a special touch to your Thanksgiving celebration. Your friends and family are sure to appreciate the extra effort, and you will feel great knowing you created a new holiday tradition of your own.
